The Radical Jesus Style
5 Disruptive Shifts to Close the Authority Gap
We are currently drowning in a sea of performative success metrics. From the curated perfection of social media to the high-pressure demands of the marketplace, the modern soul is exhausted by the noise of “doing more” to “be more.” Even within our faith, many of us have fallen into a state of spiritual inertia, replacing a living, breathing relationship with religious ritual.
But there is a subversive alternative. To live the “Jesus Style” is to step out of the grind and into a life marked by a specific triad: Authority, Authenticity, and Amazement.
Jesus didn’t speak like the religious experts of His day who merely recycled tradition. He spoke with a divine weight that demanded a response. Moving into this lifestyle requires more than a few habit changes—it requires a radical internal pivot. Here are the five shifts necessary to move from religious performance to authentic authority.
Shift 1: Your “Being” is the Foundation for Your “Behaving” and “Doing”
In a culture obsessed with productivity, we focus almost exclusively on “Doing.” However, the source of our burnout is often an identity gap. The biblical framework is clear: Your Being (Identity) dictates your Behaving (Character), which finally produces your Doing (Action).
The fatal mistake many Christians make is trying to jump from Identity to Action while skipping Character. Character is the outward expression of inner transformation. When you try to “do good” without allowing the Holy Spirit to forge “Behaving” (Character) as a bridge, you end up in a cycle of hypocrisy or exhaustion. Real “Doing” is the fruit, not the root. Trying to perform without being a “new creation” is simply religious theater.
“As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” — Ephesians 4:1
