Another key to mastering your emotions is to renew your mind with God’s Word. Our emotions are often shaped by what we believe, think, and focus on. If we’re constantly focusing on our problems, fears, or frustrations, our emotions will follow suit. But when we fill our minds with God’s truth, it changes the way we feel and respond.
Romans 12:2 (NLT) encourages us:
"Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."
By regularly reading and meditating on Scripture, we align our thoughts and emotions with God’s perspective. The more we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, the more equipped we are to handle our emotions with wisdom and grace.
