I don’t know about you, but the constant negativity in the news these days can get me down. Fear and anxiety try to creep in if I listen too much to all the worrying stories about violence, politics, the economy—you name it. Often, I end up thinking, “Nowhere feels peaceful and safe anymore!”
Have you noticed that too?
We’ve got to remind ourselves that God doesn’t operate like people do. God means what He says and keeps His promises no matter what. Our loving Creator is not a promise-breaker, but a promise-keeper!
So today, I want to share a simple but powerful verse from the Psalmist:
“Those who are righteous will be long remembered. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” (Psalm 112:6b-8 NIV)
That’s talking about us: Our confidence comes straight from the Lord, Who cares for us.
See, you and me—we don’t need to let those fearful news stories take root in our hearts. In a world where scary headlines spread like wildfire, we can still have soul-deep assurance that our lives are safe in God’s hands. He sees every struggle we walk through and promises to equip us with His very own courage, power, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).
Next time you catch yourself getting overwhelmed by negative news, remember: the righteous don’t live in fear. Our hope and joy are secure with our promise-keeping God. Why not take a quick praise break—even put on some worship music? Let your soul soak in the truths from Scripture: God cares for YOU, trusts you, and believes in you.
You’ve got this day because the Lord’s got your back!
Action Steps
Let me ask gently: What’s your biggest fear today? Can you take a quiet moment to whisper it to the Lord, admitting the worry that feels too heavy to carry anymore?
Imagine yourself setting that fear bundle gently at the feet of Jesus—the One who lived and died to free us from fear’s grip. Now ask Him to replace your fear with confident, resilient faith. After all, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment" (2 Timothy 1:7).
As you let go of fear and welcome faith, remember what the Psalms say about you and me as God’s righteous ones: “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.”
Chat with God regularly about the places where you feel afraid or uncertain. Be honest, and then listen quietly to how He wants to fill you with peace and courage for the road ahead. God's got this, my friend, and He's got YOU!

I agree completely. It's been my own experience that I sometimes have to force negative thoughts out of my mind. It's an ongoing struggle, but the Word says, "Resist the devil and he will flee from you". The key, for me at least, is to stay focused on Jesus while shutting out all the negative stuff. I try to do this daily to the best of my ability.
Much needed in our world today! Thank you for the powerful reminder!
